Introduction
This project set out to develop questions relating to the visual and spatial conventions of illustrative practice as well as notions of authorship, image ‘reading’ or visuality. The potential for Illustration to be experienced through time and space might afford both practitioners and audiences opportunities that cannot be ignored.
Workshops
During the workshop phase of this project participants were invited to explore a relatively simple workflow using pre-prepared templates to convert original 2D illustrations into virtual environments. Participants then built objects using Gravity Sketch, before editing scale and location inside of a personal 3D web environment.
Symposium
Phase 2 TBC: A symposium introducing the potential of VR and immersive tech for Illustration practitioners and developing key discursive themes relating to these imminent changes.
